How to Add “P” Tag Around Text in WordPress

Today I was banging my head against a wall, because “p” tags were being wrapped around a piece of text that I am pulling from a custom theme options page. It turns out the issue was that I was using the wpautop filter in the theme for reasons unknown (can I blame someone else for that?).

My code looked like this:

echo wpautop(get_option('arbitrary_custom_option_name'));

Now it’s all good:

echo get_option('arbitrary_custom_option_name');
